Cebo Holland BV confirms that we have been informed of the plans for the partial demolition of the Schnellbootbunker 2, in which our company is located.

This bunker has two owners: Scheybeek Groep and Hoorne Vastgoed. The section of the bunker slated for demolition is under the management of Hoorne Vastgoed. Cebo Holland BV has made significant investments in this part of the bunker over the past few years to make it suitable for the storage of our raw materials, primarily bentonite, a high-quality volcanic clay mineral. These initiatives have eliminated the need for road transport from the port of Amsterdam, resulting in a significant reduction in transport movements and associated CO2 emissions.

As tenants, we are not fully aware of the exact reasons for the demolition but have heard that it may be related to alleged CO2 emission reduction projects or the construction of real estate. However, we cannot confirm this. For further information, we refer you to Hoorne Vastgoed, the responsible owner of this part of the bunker, or to the responsible alderman of the municipality of Velsen.

Cebo Holland BV is surprised by the approval of the demolition notification by the municipality of Velsen, given the significant historical value of the Schnellbootbunker. This building is the largest bunker in the Netherlands and is part of the Atlantikwall, a site of both historical and tourist importance, as well as a beloved landmark for the residents of IJmuiden.

If the demolition proceeds, as is currently being prepared with the removal of asbestos from the roof, it means we will need to relocate this part of our business. This will require us to rebuild. This is expected to involve significant investments and may cause disruptions to our production process, potentially affecting the surrounding area, the local community, and our employees.
